Lisa Marks, CSEP, Shaw Communications

With over 9 years of event production experience under her belt, Lisa is an industry advocate and leader among her peers locally and abroad. Graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Haskayne School of Business (University of Calgary) in 2008, she began her work in the industry immediately following with e=mc2 events, with one of Canada’s largest and most well-known agencies. Lisa later spent 14 months working at life experience agency POP Kollaborative as an Event Professional meanwhile achieving her Certified Special Events Professional designation in 2012 at the age of 27, among the youngest worldwide. An integral part of both production teams, Lisa played a lead role in several projects that have been honored with multiple national and international event industry awards. Since November of 2013, Lisa has been the Manager of Corporate Events for Shaw Communications, leading event strategy and activation for the senior leadership team of Shaw nationally. In both 2013 and 2014, Marks was recognized in Special Events Magazine on the Top 25 Young Professionals to Watch list as the first ever Canadian to be included.

Seeking out deeper involvement in the industry, Lisa began her tenure on the International Special Events Society (Calgary) Board of Directors in 2010, which is now named the International Live Events Association. She served in various Officer roles including ILEA Calgary Chapter President in 2013. Lisa took her leadership to the global ILEA level and was appointed as the Chair of the International MarComm Committee for the 2014/2015 chapter year. She is now serving the community as the Chair of ILEA Canada and takes great pride in bringing cohesive strategy and enthusiasm to the industry nationally.

Lisa is extremely proud of Canada’s event industry reputation on the national and international stage and is passionate about the industry having a positive impact on the economy.
