Lisa Marks, CSEP, Shaw Communications

A self-described “employed entrepreneur,” Lisa brings leadership and entrepreneurialism to her role at Shaw and within the events industry. Since 2013, Lisa has been the Manager of Corporate Events for Shaw Communications, acting as chief counsel on live experiences to the executive team, and leading event strategy, brand activation and production for the corporation.
Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary in 2008 and began her work in the industry immediately following, with e=mc2 events, where she spent four years on the production team. While later employed at POP Kollaborative, Lisa achieved her Certified Special Events Professional designation in 2012 at the age of 27, among the youngest to achieve this certification globally. In both 2013 and 2014, Marks was recognized in Special Events Magazine on the Top 25 Young Professionals to Watch list as the first ever Canadian to be included.
The International Live Events Association (Calgary) Board of Directors welcomed Lisa to the volunteer leadership team in 2010. She served as the VP of Membership prior to entering the Office of the President for ILEA Calgary in 2012. She took her leadership to the global level and was appointed as the Chair of the International MarComm Committee for ILEA International in 2014. Lisa served on the ILEA Canada Board as Chair in 2016.
Passionate about live experiences making a difference in the world, Lisa sits on the Board of Directors for international social entrepreneurship charity Mealshare, which aims to end youth hunger through a restaurant-based buy 1/give 1 model.
Lisa is extremely proud of the Canadian event industry’s reputation internationally, and is motivated to ensure it has a positive impact on the global economy.
