John is a full-time professor and award-winning professional in the special event industry. Over his career he has worked on a wide range of events including international press conferences, educational workshops, weddings and fundraising galas. John has been a member of the International Live Event Association (ILEA) for over 10 years and has served on the board of both the Toronto chapter and ILEA Canada. John has been a judge for both the Canadian Special Event Awards and the international Esprit awards. John is also a Certified Wedding Planner with the Wedding Planning Institute of Canada.
John was instrumental in the development of Seneca College’s graduate certificate in Event Management – Event and Exhibit Design, a program in which he now teaches and coordinates. He has worked with his students on a number of events and projects across the city including Bloor Street Entertains, the Design Exchange Gala, the World AIDS Conference, the Premier’s Awards and the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Crystal Addition.
John has a Fine Art Bachelors Degree from York University, a Masters Degree in Education from Brock University, as well as formal education in Interior Decorating. John has worked freelance as a photographer, curator, publicist, interior decorator, and colour consultant. John is also a practicing sculptor exhibiting in galleries in Toronto.
