John MacBride is a professor and a special event industry professional who has worked on events ranging from international press conferences to private weddings to large fundraising galas. He has also worked freelance as a photographer, curator, publicist, interior decorator and colour consultant, and regularly exhibits his art at galleries across Toronto. He is also a member of the International Live Event Association and currently serves on the Canada Board as Vice-Chair, Finance and Corporate Governance. He has judged previous Canadian Event Industry Awards and ILEA Espirit awards. MacBride was instrumental in the development of the Seneca College’s Event Management – Event and Exhibit Design graduate certificate, a program in which he now teaches and co-ordinates. He has worked with his students on a number of events and projects across the city including Bloor Street Entertains, the Design Exchange Gala, the World AIDS Conference, and the opening of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Crystal Addition.
